Larry Deep · Three-dimensional mixed-media artist
Where painting
meets sculpture.
Larry Deep is a three-dimensional mixed-media artist whose work explores texture, depth, movement, and transformation.
With roots in ceramics, he brings a sculptor’s approach to painting, combining materials such as copper, resin, metallic leaf, porcelain, wire, and acrylic to create richly layered surfaces.
Rather than treating a canvas or panel as a flat surface, he builds outward—creating relief, repetition, shadow, and physical depth. His work often exists between painting and sculpture, revealing new qualities as the light and viewing angle change.
A conversation with materials
Experimentation is central to his practice. Materials are layered, altered, aged, suspended, repeated, and combined. Organic movement meets geometric structure; patina, reflection, and texture become part of the work’s expression.
Across porcelain, copper, sculptural poles, and painted surfaces, recurring themes include nature, memory, time, transformation, and connectedness. Each piece invites a closer look, a step sideways, and another moment of discovery.
